Well, it's only been 8 months since my last blog! Oops! But in my defense, we've been a little busy. Here is the shortened version of our last 8 months (a friend has borrowed our camera, so no new pics yet):
The company Brian works for practically shut down the Salt Lake facility. Fortunately for us, they love Brian (can't say I blame them!) and offered him a position in the corporate office. Unfortunately, the corporate office is in East Aurora, New York (just outside of Buffalo). They flew us out there in October so we could get acquainted with the town and make our decision. After much thought, we decided to move. Brian was still looking for jobs out here, but with the recent layoff of engineers at MOOG and other companies, it didn't look promising. We put the house up for sale and started preparing to move. Then he was offered not one, but two jobs! He accepted a position in Salt Lake and gave his two weeks notice to MOOG. The next day he got a call from the corporate office asking what it would take for him to stay with MOOG. He ended up with a position here in Salt Lake, a promotion, and a raise! Who turns a layoff into a promotion and a raise?! So we get to stay in Utah, at least for now!!
Shayla started kindergarten last fall. She's growing up too fast! It seems like just yesterday she was my little baby just learning how to walk. She loves school and is doing so well! She's exceeding in math. I had such a difficult time with math when I was younger and was so scared she would be too, but she is really really good! I couldn't be more proud of her. After her dance recital last summer, we put her in tumbling at Head Over Heals too. I love that place! She's so fun to watch. She absolutely loves tumbling and dance. She's also been playing soccer this spring. And when that's over she wants to take swimming lessons. This kid likes everything! I guess it's good though. Her dance/tumbling recital is coming up soon, I can't wait!
I started college last fall. I decided to change my major from health care to education so I have to practically start over, luck me. I guess that's why I kept putting it off. I'm hoping to be done in 3 years, but we'll see.
And, perhaps the biggest news of all, I'm pregnant! Well, I'm very pregnant now (32 weeks). We are having a little boy this time! Funny story about that-I was positive this one was a boy. When we went in to find out the sex, my doctor told us we were having a girl. I was sure he was wrong, but didn't want to sound like an idiot telling everyone that. Well, my next appointment was with the ultrasound tech. She, very causally, told me it was a boy. I knew it!! Brian wasn't with me for that appointment and it was a few days before Valentines day. She printed a picture of his "boyness" and tried to convince me to give it to Brian for Valentines day. I made it about 10 minutes after he got home to tell him. *lol* I suck at keep secrets like that!
It's going to be a very busy couple months! Shayla's kindergarten program and last day of school are next month. She's turning 6 in June and has her recital. And, she will have a new baby brother in the middle of June!
